Mayor to Hold Community Forums on City Budget

 

Richmond, VA - Mayor Dwight C. Jones will present the city
administration's FY 2011 city of Richmond budget tonight at 6 p.m.
during the Formal City Council meeting. In addition, Mayor Jones will
hold several community forums on the city's FY2011 budget. The community
forums are scheduled for:

 

            Wednesday, March 24, from 6 - 8 p.m.

            Franklin Military Academy

            701 North 37th Street

            

            Thursday, March 25, from 6 - 8 p.m.

            Westover Hills Elementary School

            1211 Jahnke Road

 

            Monday, March 29, from 6 - 8 p.m.

            Richmond Main Public Library

            101 East Franklin Street

 

"We cannot tax our way out of our current budget gap, nor can we just
cut our way out of this; we must position ourselves for growth," said
the Mayor. "This is our opportunity. I invite and encourage every city
resident to attend these very important public forums."

 

The city budget operational period extends from July 1 to June 30
annually and includes the city's General Fund, Capital Improvement Plan,
Special Funds, Enterprise Funds, Internal Service Funds, and the city's
contribution to Richmond Public Schools.
