Subject: Homeward Project Homeless Connect: Nov. 19

Have you ever given money to a panhandler and wondered if there's a
better way to help someone on the streets?

Have you ever had someone help you through a difficult time by providing
a listening ear and a smile?

Have you ever wondered where you would go if you lost your job, had a
medical crisis, ended a bad relationship, or just needed to get yourself
together?

You can make a difference in the life of someone experiencing or at risk
of homelessness on Thursday, Nov. 19 at Project Homeless Connect.
Homeward is recruiting 1,000 people to help connect people on the
streets and those at risk of homelessness to services so that they can
take the next step towards stability. At this one-day, one-stop event,
single adults experiencing homelessness can connect with on-site medical
care, employment services, housing assessments and a variety of social
service benefits.

Last year, several hundred volunteers helped 575 area neighbors in
housing crisis to connect to over 40 local, state and federal human
service offerings at Project Homeless Connect. We know that many more
people in our community are homeless or at risk of losing their housing
this year. We are preparing to serve more people this November and need
your help. At the event, volunteer "navigators" are paired individually
with people in crisis to assist with prioritizing and accessing services
at the event, including dental and vision screenings, birth certificate
applications and free haircuts.

By helping someone who needs assistance to take the next step towards a
more stable life, your belief that change is possible and your listening
ear could be a turning point for that individual and for our community's
efforts to ultimately end homelessness.

You can join hundreds of other volunteers from our community who have
already signed up to participate. More information is available in the
attached documents and on our website. You can register online at
www.homewardva.org <http://www.homewardva.org/>

Thank you for considering this opportunity to help connect people
experiencing homelessness to the services that will lead to more stable
lives. And, if you are one of the over 300 volunteers who has already
registered, thank you. Please help us to spread the word to others who
want to help make connections for people experiencing homelessness on
Nov. 19.

Cheers,

Kelly
