[Emailfda] Recent assaults in the Fan neighborhood

A message from our police department.

 

 

 

The Richmond Police Department is currently investigating two assaults
against women that occurred this month in the Fan area.

 

The Department has not determined if these two events are related, however,
at this point there appears to be some similarities between these assaults.

 

Both incidents occurred on the street shortly after 2 a.m. as the victims
were walking from restaurants on West Main Street in the Fan area. The
suspect in these cases is described as a Latino male, medium build,
approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, with dark spiky hair.

 

Officers are patrolling the area and following leads in these cases but urge
the public to take these precautions when walking at night: 

*	If possible walk in groups of two or more, 
*	Be aware of your surroundings and others in the area, 
*	Walk in well-lit areas, avoiding alleys 
*	Report suspicious persons and activity immediately  

 

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Crime
Stoppers at 780-1000.
