Accompanying the Annual Meeting will be the First Annual 
Excellence in Volunteerism Awards
			
Up to three awards will be given to FAN residents for voluntary
accomplishments that are clearly above and beyond the ordinary.  Nominees
will have invested a significant amount of volunteer time.  The voluntary
effort should have some lasting value while clearly and visibly benefit the
FAN District 

and the
2009 FDA Historic Preservation Awards
(three total awards will be granted)

*	Exterior restoration of a residential dwelling
Nominated structures will demonstrate the return of the exterior to styles
and/or of materials that mimic what was used when the home was built. The
finished  exterior should retain the historic values of the original
structure.  Renovation of garages may be included.

*	Green building rehabilitation or restoration award (residential or
commercial space)
Extensive use of green building materials and/or methods in a restoration or
rehab, 	including use of energy efficient equipment and appliances.

*	Best restoration of a commercial FAN space (includes multi-family
residential)
Adaptive reuse of a building; rescuing an abandoned building and restoring;
sensitive
Conversion from apartments to condominium would all be appropriate nominees.

Nomination forms and criteria for submitting nominations for all volunteer
excellence awards and historic preservation awards are available on the FDA
website at www.awards.fandistrict.org <http://www.fandistrict.org/> .  The
deadline for submission is April 15, 2009
