Events Close Streets, Restrict Parking Friday, Saturday




Dec. 1, 2009

The Richmond Police Department asks motorists and citizens to be mindful
of street closures and parking restrictions Friday and Saturday for the
Grand Illumination and the Ukrop's/Supervalu Parade.

 

Drivers need to be patient and plan alternate routes around the areas
below.

 

On Friday, Dec. 4:

*        No parking allowed on the south side of East Cary Street
between 9th and 12th Street

*	Tenth Street will be closed between East Cary and Canal streets;
*	Expect traffic delays on East Cary Street from 9th to 12th
streets from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 

On Saturday, Dec. 5:

*	Broad Street will be closed in both directions between North
Davis and Strawberry streets from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the set up of the
Ukrop's Super Value Christmas Parade. The detour for eastbound traffic
will be right on Davis, left on Grace, left on Strawberry and right on
Broad. The detour for westbound traffic will be left on Strawberry,
right on Monument, right on Robinson and left on Broad;
*	Harrison Street will be closed between Broad and Marshall
streets from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
*	Leigh Street will be closed between the Boulevard and Hermitage
Road from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
*	All traffic will be prohibited in the westbound lanes of Broad
Street from 8th Street to DMV Drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
*	Fifth Street will be closed to through traffic between Jackson
and Broad streets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Only vehicles needing access to
the Marriott Hotel, 5th Street parking deck and the Convention Center
will be allowed;  
*	All traffic will be prohibited on North 7th Street between Broad
and Jackson streets from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
*	Belvidere Street will be closed from Leigh to Franklin streets
and East Marshall Street will be closed between 3rd and 8th streets from
9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
